Love Jones is a 1997 romantic drama that featured Larenz Tate and Nia Long in a sexy, erotic, complex, love story that twisted and tangled around a Bohemian Vibe embracing the mixture of Poetry & Music. The soundtrack from this film was loaded with jazz, Neo-Soul, R&B, lead by the signature piece, “Sweetest Thing,” written, produced, and performed by Multi-Grammy Winning Artist: Lauryn Hill.
Our feature band for this night, Jukebox, is out of Atlanta, GA and are absolutely outstanding at evoking the VIBE that Love Jones the movie made famous. Get ready to journey through Old School Soul, 90’s R&B, Neo-Soul, and some conscious Hip-Hop all through LIVE instrumentation. Lead vocalist for the band, Kermit Quinn, is a veteran crooner with notable credits of being a touring member of
The Grammy Winning Group, BLACKstreet. The leader of BLACKstreet, Teddy Riley, was also a member of “Guy” and is credited with being the creator of “New Jack Swing.” Kermit Quinn, though, is by no means an understudy. He has perfect pitch and has an amazing gift vocally of stirring your memory of how Soul and R&B use to be. He was Nominated for a Grammy in 2009 for collaboration with Boney James on for their rendition of James Taylor’s: “Don’t Let Me Be Lonely Tonight.”
Pensacola’s own Alicia Waters will be sharing her poetry art and hosting this event. She will be joined by Mobile, AL based Poet, Huggy Bear. Rickey Duffy and his band, Groove Symphony will be the opening act joined by vocalist Labrea Yates, Trey, and Vernon.
THIS SHOW WILL BE FULLY SEATED. EVERY TICKET PURCHASER WILL HAVE A SEAT IF THEY LIKE.
